01Build a useful description for a quote
For a repair, explain what happens when you close the door, move the handle and turn the key. For a replacement, say why the change is needed and whether you want to retain existing handles. A short description of each opening helps the work be scoped without guessing at parts. Some faults still need assessment before the final price can be established. Ask whether the quote includes attendance, compatible hardware and the stated work.
02Get ready for the agreed visit
Make sure an authorised person can access the relevant doors and approve the job. If a building manager controls the entrance, clarify permission before work is arranged. Keep any insurer specification available and identify who will receive replacement keys. Where several repairs are requested, agree the priorities and the cost of the defined scope. A change found during assessment should lead to a fresh discussion before extra work is undertaken, rather than an assumed extension of the original quote.
