01Explain the fault without forcing the hardware
Say whether the key enters normally, whether it turns and what the handle does. If the door needs lifting or pressure to lock, mention that too. Repeated force can make damaged hardware harder to assess and may worsen the problem. A repair enquiry can consider the lock, its fittings and the way the door closes. If a replacement component is required, compatibility with the existing door matters as much as the visible appearance.
02Use a repair visit to clarify the options
Ask what has caused the fault and how the proposed work will correct it. A cylinder replacement, a mechanism repair and an alignment adjustment are different jobs, even when the original symptom feels similar. If you also want another lock changed, identify that as a separate request. Confirm any charge for attending, the parts included and the overall scope. Further work discovered during assessment should be explained and priced before it proceeds.
